Written In Stone: Chapter One was developed as a self-sponsored capstone exhibition by Ebube Maduka Ugwu at Delaware State University. The exhibition introduced a growing creative series focused on American history, symbolism, visual identity, and cultural storytelling through four bodies of work: Icon, Chaos, Trophy, and Royal.

This project was my first opportunity to bring my creative work into public view. From planning timelines to shaping the exhibition layout, every decision required intention, organization, and attention to detail. What began as a creative challenge became a defining lesson in execution, presentation, and storytelling.

A portrait exhibition of pivotal and historically iconic figures who shaped American history, culture, and public imagination. Through portraiture, symbolism, and reinterpretation, the series examines how icons are remembered, questioned, and transformed over time. Each work invites the viewer to look beyond legacy and consider the human force behind the image.
